Dalmatian Pelican which visited the Hayle Estuary a few weeks ago.

As i was sat in the van in the Quay house car park the Pelican flew from the far side of estuary and landed on the only bit of ground it could find as the tide was well in .

It then decided to fish about fifty yards in front of me catching a large flat fish.

As the tide dropped and the sun came out it decided to have a rest on its favorite mound.

  2. Great photos and blog! I initially noticed your "pelican vs flatfish" shots here. Wow so was that a really big fish (could you see it thrashing about inside the pouch?) and was it putting up a good fight for the bird?? In the end was the pelican able to gulp that whole thing down okay? If eaten does the unlucky prey get swallowed wriggling all the way as well?!
