Sorry for the long absence, anyway back birding once again and fighting fit so thought it was about time to start using the camera again.

Went birding with monty and ashley sunday morning and had a good array of birds,this confiding Grey Phalarope been one of the highlights.

Had a great couple of hours after seeing the finch ,first connected with the shrike near skewjack farm and then had red kite and turtle dove at brew pool.

Heres a selection of Wheatears seen at Lands end on sunday morning,we counted in the region of fifty to sixty birds in total,other spring migrants included three Ring ouzels,whitethroat,and Willow warbler,there was also an obvious fall of Chiffchaffs.

Heres a selection of images of the adult Pacific Diver at Carnsew Basin on friday afternoon .All the identification features can be seen clearly including dark rear thigh patch and throat and vent strap which combined with slighter appearance and more rounded head shape help eliminate Black Throated Diver. Great bird.

Managed to grab half an hour yesterday lunch time at marazion beach where two first winter little gulls were feeding in the surf at the mouth of the red river,unfortunately they were only present for a minute or two as they were flushed by dogs and wind surfers. This was the best shot i could get in a short space of time.y

My back yard ,although it doesnt look much as a birding hotspot and most of my garden list is made up of flyovers it has still hosted Yellow browed warbler ,Firecrest,Black redstart and Grey wagtail , flyover highlights have included Glossy ibis, Cattle egret, Red kite, Marsh harrier, Crossbill, Green sandpiper etc.

Heres a blast from the past and one of the best suprises to have turned up in and around the Wild Thyme garden. First seen in the last week of december 08 feeding around the planters in my back yard it stayed in the area well into January 09 . I think you will agree from the photos that its not exactly typical Yellow browed habitat and is proof that anything can turn up anywhere.
